The tightness of the forearm.

The tightness of the forearm.

There was once a Roman soldier who had seen many battles. When a new partner arrived in the Legion, he didn't ask if he could trust him. He didn't ask, "Are you strong?", "Are you loyal?" or "are you reliable?". He just stretched out his arm and squeezed his forearm to the other.

In this gesture, everything was in it:

- I don't hide a gun, I don't attack you.

- I fight with you and stand by you.

- I also risk my own life to make yours longer and more effective.

The old Romans not only greeted me like this. It was a promise: *"Our destiny is intertwined, and what we build together survives us." *

Today, few are squeezed into forearms and the world is different.

But the point did not change. When you say to someone, "Long and effective life!" You actually want him to be safe, have a place in the world, and find his own way.

And if you sometimes have enough handshake, a smile or a quiet presence on the bench, that gesture, like the Roman forearm, lives forever.
