The story of Candles.

The story of candles.

Once upon a time, there was an old church with four candles burning in the corner. Not with a big flame, but with enough light to illuminate the quiet space. When night fell and people had already gone home, the candles began to talk to each other.

The first candle said:

– I am Peace. I have tried so many times to reconcile people, families, nations… but everyone prefers to seek their own truth and is angry with the other. I am tired. There is no point in burning anymore. – With these words, it slowly went out.

The second candle sighed and then spoke:

– I am Faith. For so many centuries, I have given strength to people. But today? People believe in things that are seen, not in the unseen. They say that I am just a fairy tale. I am no longer important. – And its flame slowly went out.

The third candle trembled sadly:

– I am Love. I found a home in so many hearts… but lately only indifference, selfishness and greed have remained. People have forgotten what it means to give, to embrace, to forgive. – And the flame of Love has also gone out.

The church was suddenly covered in darkness, only the fourth candle flickered. At that moment a small child entered. He saw the extinguished candles and burst into tears:

– Why are you sleeping late? Without you, everything is so dark and scary!

Then the fourth candle, Hope, said in a soft voice:

– Don't cry, my dear. As long as I am here, the others can always be relit.

And with the flame of Hope, he relit Peace, Faith and Love. The church was bathed in light again.

Lesson:

In life, we often feel that everything around us is dying: peace, faith, or even love. But as long as there is a single spark of hope, everything can be revived. It is not the darkness that is stronger, but the light – it just takes someone to rekindle it.

Sometimes it takes just one person, one kind word, one small deed to rekindle the flame in others. And that person might be you.
