The little prayer.

10/11/2025

The gentleman stands with dignity, the younger man behind him watches in silence. The scene depicts the border between goodness and uncertainty, where the intention to help meets respect. The light is golden, the moment is human, fragile and true.

"True goodness always comes before a decision. Because you must not only know how to give, but also see when you should not take away the dignity of the other."

The little prayer.

It was morning. The city was still half asleep, the streets were quiet, only the smell of fresh bread wafted from the bakery.

A few people were having breakfast at KFC.

Martin and Heni were laughing at the table, and the light filtered softly through the glass door.

In front of you in the queue stood an elegant, elderly man.

He didn't ask for much, just what he had:

Four thousand one hundred forints.

The cashier helpfully told him what he could buy for that much, and when the change was a hundred forints short, you reached into your pocket and took out a change.

A small prayer.

You didn't say anything, you just handed it over, but the man eventually found another hundred.

He didn't ask, he didn't accept anything — and you didn't force it either.

Because you knew that sometimes kindness is more when it doesn't want to prove itself.

When he sat down next to you with his wife and said quietly:

- That's all I could buy, something clenched inside you.

Not because of the money.

But because you felt that someone was struggling with a small deficiency with dignity, and you stood there, you could have done something, but you didn't want them to feel shame.

Kindness sometimes remains silent.

Not a movement, but a vibration.

And even though you didn't hand over the money, your heart still opened up — and life always remembers such moments.

Since then, the small money has remained in your pocket.

It is not worthless, because it is no longer a forint, but a memory.

A small prayer that you did not say, but heaven heard.

Lesson

Not all goodness is visible.

There is something that silence does for us.

The important thing is not whether you gave — but whether you were able to feel it.

Because a person does not become good by acting, but by not being able to remain indifferent.
