The Story of the Candles.
The Story of the Candles.
Once upon a time, in an old church, four candles were burning in the corner.
Not with a big flame, but with enough light to brighten the silent space.
When night fell, and the people had gone home, the candles began to talk to each other.
The first candle said:
– I am Peace. So many times I tried to reconcile people, families, nations…
But everyone only seeks their own truth and holds anger against one another.
I am tired. There is no point in burning anymore.
– With these words, the flame slowly went out.
The second candle sighed and spoke:
– I am Faith. For centuries I gave strength to people. But today?
People believe only in what they see, not in what is unseen.
They say I am just a fairy tale. I am no longer important.
– And its flame slowly died.
The third candle trembled sadly:
– I am Love. I once had a home in many hearts…
But nowadays there is only indifference, selfishness, and greed.
People have forgotten what it means to give, to embrace, to forgive.
– And the flame of Love also went out.
Suddenly, the church was plunged into darkness.
Only the fourth candle still flickered faintly.
At that moment, a little child entered.
He saw the extinguished candles and began to cry:
– Why have you gone out? Without you, everything is so dark and frightening!
Then the fourth candle, Hope, spoke softly:
– Don't cry, my dear. As long as I am here, the others can always be lit again.
And with the flame of Hope, the child rekindled Peace, Faith, and Love.
The church was once more filled with light.
Moral
In life, we often feel that everything around us is fading away: peace, faith, even love.
But as long as there is a single spark of hope, everything can come alive again.
It is not the darkness that is stronger, but the light – someone just needs to kindle it anew.
Twist: Sometimes, it only takes one person, one kind word, one small act, to rekindle the flame in others.
And perhaps… that person is you.
