🎃 The Candle on the Porch.

(Halloween)

Every Halloween night in a small village, candles were lit on the porches.

Not to scare people — but to remember.

The villagers were not waiting for ghosts, but for those they could no longer see.

An old woman, Aunt Magdi, lit the same candle every year.

It was an old, wax-stained candlestick that her husband had made for her before he left.

When she was asked why she didn't light a new candle instead, she always said:

– The new candle also lights, but this one also remembers.

One year, the wind blew stronger than usual. The candle flame trembled and almost went out.

The little boy next door, who was collecting candy, ran over and wrapped his two hands around the flame until it became stronger again.

– Be careful, you'll burn me! – the woman said.

But the boy just smiled:

– It's okay. This isn't a fire, it's someone's who's missing.

That evening, everyone in the village lit a new candle, but Aunt Magdi's candle burned the brightest.

Because the light that someone watches over never goes out — it's only passed on.

The next morning, a new candle stood on the porch.

The little boy put it there, with the same wax stain on the side.

Because he realized: Halloween is not a day of fear, but a celebration of passing on the light.
