The Finest Cigar.
The Finest Cigar.
Once there was a man who smoked a cigar every evening.
Not because he had nothing else to do, but because it was his quiet ritual.
He would sit in his armchair, take the box in his hands, and spend a long time choosing among the cigars.
He examined their scent, their color, their wrapping.
And yet, he always reached the same conclusion: he took out the worst one and smoked it.
"Why do you always pick the worst one?" a friend once asked him.
"Because that way tomorrow will surely be better," the man replied with a smile.
But his friend grew thoughtful, and quietly said:
"You're a fool, Feri. If you always choose the worst, then every evening will be about waiting, not living.
Every day will end with the thought: 'I'll endure today, tomorrow will be better.'
Wouldn't it be better if every evening you chose the finest cigar?
Then every day could be the best."
The man fell silent.
The smoke slowly curled around him, as if his thoughts had become visible.
Then he nodded. From that day on, he always smoked his finest cigar.
And something remarkable happened.
He no longer searched for the better tomorrow — instead, today became the best.
Every evening ended with the richest aroma, the most delicate taste.
And every morning began anew — not with waiting, but with gratitude.
Moral:
Life is not about enduring the worse until the better comes.
Life is about embracing what is placed in our hands today with our whole heart.
He who always waits for tomorrow's finer cigar will never taste today's fragrance.
But he who smokes the finest today can make every day the best.
